Sustainable + Restorative
Our Commitment to Sustainability
In 2021, we saw our home province of British Columbia affected by record breaking heat waves, floods, and fires. Our core value of sustainability quickly became our top priority as we saw our planet was in distress. This inspired us to accelerate our sustainability goals and are excited to share that our entire product line will be available in pouches made from 100% compostable materials by 2023. We hope to inspire companies in our industry and in our community to step up and make their own changes to prioritize sustainability. We will only make a difference if we work together!
At Herbaland, we believe that a sustainable world is made through prioritizing our environment and our community, while taking actions that respect the earth's natural process. We are committed to improving the future of the planet and the future of generations to come.
Since the launch of their new packaging in April of 2022, Herbaland diverted over 10 tons of plastic bottles from landfills!
Compostable Packaging
In April 2022, we began switching our gummies from plastic bottles to compostable packaging! Through this change, we will eliminate the consumption of over 10 tons of plastic per year (300,000 bottles) which will drastically reduces our annual carbon footprint. Our new packaging is made from natural and sustainably sourced ingredients including cassava, sugar cane, and cornstarch.
Our new packaging can be placed in backyard compost bins, bokashi bins, worm farms, community compost and in a Lomi Composter. Click below to learn more about our new pouches!
From Sustainable to Restorative
Starting this Earth month, we have committed to plant one tree for every pouch sold, with a long term goal of planting 2.5 million trees by 2025 with our partner, veritree. Supporting a restorative economy will help us move past simply being a sustainable company and we’ll be able to improve the health of our planet, ecosystems, and global communities. Keeping our customers at the center of our efforts, we’ll do our best to ensure a better future for generations to come.

The Great Shoreline Clean Up
To support our local environment and community Herbaland has joined Ocean Wise’s environmental cleanup initiative, The Great Shoreline Cleanup! This initiative provides the opportunity for anyone to take action in their communities wherever water meets land, one bit of trash at a time. Herbaland came together to clean up our local communities shoreline at Gary Point in Richmond, BC. In total, we collectively removed over 25lbs of garbage! Our waterways are important to all life, and therefore are in critical need of protection. To learn more or lead your own clean up, please visit the link below.
Eco-Forming Technology
In the gummy industry, the standard manufacturing technique is to pour the gummy mixture into shapes imprinted in starch molds. This process creates a lot of waste and potential cross-contamination. At our manufacturing facility in Richmond, BC, we use a unique and innovative Eco-Forming technology that replaces the starch molds with reusable stainless steel molds. Gummies made through this process are smoother, cleaner, and typically lightly coated in MCT or organic sunflower oil.

We strive to provide inclusive vegan products for people with diverse dietary restrictions. We choose high-quality plant-based ingredients from suppliers who align with our values of sustainability and inclusivity. Our ingredients are certified gluten-free, and non-GMO.
To make our commitment to our values and make our mission clear, Herbaland has aligned its goals as a business to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals act as a blueprint for a better and sustainable future for everyone, which is what Herbaland is all about. These goals tackle issues such as poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. It is extremely we accomplish these goals by the targeted year of 2030!
